The most important sites to visit in the old Medina are the Qarawiyin University & Mosque which was the first ever university in the world, the Medersa BouNania, the Nejjarine fountains, the famous Chouwara Tannery, the Attarin Medersa and the Attarin Souk. We will continue our desert tours from Tangier on the second day, departing from Fes after having a delicious breakfast. We will head to the Moroccan Sahara desert through the gorgeous and Serene Middle Atlas Mountains where some of the most beautiful and captivating landscapes of Morocco can be found. The road passes by some gorgeous cities like Ifrane, “The Switzerland of Morocco” which is one of Morocco’s cleanest and most beautiful cities, well- known for its cold weather throughout the year and its European-styled buildings. We will also stop in Azrou to wander inside of the famous Cedar forest and feed the little Barbary Macaque monkeys. Next, we will pass by Midelt and some Berber villages before reaching Meerzouga where you will meet our camel guide who will take you on a camel trekking experience to your luxury desert camp, located on the beautiful golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Upon your arrival to the desert camp, you will be welcomed with tea and will get to the traditional “Medfouna” dish for dinner. The desert camp offers you with opportunity to witness the life of the Berber people up close and to peruse the details of the beautiful landscape and the shiny and colorful countless stars. On the third day of our Tangier desert tours 3 days, we will wake you up early in the morning to enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the desert. After having your breakfast, you will depart from Merzouga heading to the cinematic of Ouerzazate, passing through the fascinating Toudgha gorge where we will stop for lunch and for a walk. On the road you’ll glance the Scattered Berber kasbahs that rise up like turreted sand castles along this ancient caravan trading route. This area has long been a popular location for Hollywood films such as The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and most recently Hideous Kinky. The central region is one of the most exciting and romantic destinations of Morocco nestled along rich river valleys, palmeries and burnished mud-brick homes ablaze in vibrant color under the shelter of the blue desert sky. We will carry on through the Dades Valley past dramatic escarpments, reaching Ouerzazate where the making of some of the most important and the most famous movies took place like Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven. We will continue to the famous Kasbah Ait BenHaddou, declared UNESCO World Heritage and which was the scene of films like The Gladiator, Babel, Lawrence of Arabia, we continue passing through the High Atlas and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, along a road that climbs from the plains up to 2260 m above sea level passing through small villages, small waterfalls, through the continuously changing landscape and colors of these beautiful Mountains. We reach Marrakech in the evening marking the end of our Tangier desert tours.
